Organization
SAH was founded in 1958 on the initiative of the formerly Swiss Forestry Direction as an association according to paragraph 60ff of the Swiss Civil Code. The highest body is the general assembly of members. It elects the president, the executive board and the controller of the account and fixes the member fees.
The executive board is formed by representatives of Swiss universities, Swiss research institutes, the Swiss woodworking industries and the Section Forests of the Swiss Agency for the Environment, Forests and Landscape SAFEL. The executive board decides on all necessary policies and instructions for the direction of the office. The office is the assistant to the executive board and in charge of the management office of SAH. Lignum in Zürich holds the mandate to operate the management office of SAH.
Members of SAH are institutions, companies, associations and single persons who are dealing with wood, timber construction and wood science. Rights and duties of SAH members and SAH bodies are regulated in the statutes.
